just doing a bit of upgraging to the percolation . using top soil at 1m depth as a raised bed . but i was advised to make sure its sandy soil(add sand if need be). does anyone have an idea of a ratio. eg , if clay-ey soil add same amount of unwashed sand and mix
    (1:1)
    . or should i mix soil/sand @2:1 etc .
    any toughts welcome

    you've been advised incorrectly.

you need to find top soil with the correct T value.... adding sand to the site top soil is not allowed.

..... and the P or T value of the soil needs to be certified normally, so the relevant test needs to be done on the soil being imported.

and just to expand on this, the test needs to be done in situ on your site.... not on the site its taken from.
