    has anyone got their classic vrt'd and had to pay additional costs/fines for it being in the country for a while?if so how much/percentage do they charge?

    .1% per day of the vrt due , doesn't sound like much but after 4 years it 146% which adds up if your initial vrt due was in the thousands

    mmm interesting cheers.any idea what would happen if ya went for the vrt and you only had enough money for the tax not the extra cost,would they not register it,would they keep the car or would you be given x amount of time to pay the extra?

    You pay all or nothing I would guess , it also depends who you meet on the day maybe if you had a friend in the north you could get a recent receipt from him ......,

    As the sign in the Blarney vrt office says " if you don't have a receipt write one out".
    With regard to not having the right amount on the day, no money no reg.

    i doubt it would be enforced for a classic, the amount would be tiny and creative thinking should get you round the problem anyway
