Hi! Does anyone know, roughly, how much Essix Retainers cost in Ireland? :)

that's a low fee. your ortho undercharges, the lab bill is just under the lower limit of that.

I doubt many orthodontists send out essix retainers, they only take 40 minutes (30 minutes of that is waiting for stone to set) to make and the materials costs is minimal. That how much I charge for an essix. If you lab charge you 40 euro of a single essix retainer you need to invest in a suckdown machine :)

    hi there

If you go to the orthodontist who did the treatment, the Essix will cost pretty much what Fitz has said.

Orthodonists do not like to take on people who are in the retention phase as this can be just as problematic as the treatment phase. If there is a problem with the teeth going crooked who is responsible? Is is the patient, the original orthodontist or the one who gave the new Essix?

The original orthodontist will have been paid for the full treatment but the new orthodontist may have to take responsibility for keeping the teeth striaght when they are only been paid the cost of replacing the retainers.

Try to go to whoever did the treatment originally or phone around to get a few quotes.

you may have well trained staff, a model grinder and trimmer, vacuum mixer maybe, a heat knife, suckdown machine. all that can add up to over 2-3k. maybe you just have some of these things.
then there your documentation of taking over somebody's retention.

Can all be got for a lot less, that a discussion for the lounge, take 20 minutes to train the staff. You have to want to make your own. :).
