There's a certain hill in Portmarnock that I've got KOM on (not for long after telling you lot about it though..) and I beat my previous best last night by 12 seconds. But...Strava didn't log my time for the segment. I recreated the segment from the ride and it doesn't recognise it as a duplicate.
Anybody any ideas on what might be happening?
The only difference between last night and the previous times I've done the segment was that I had to go out on an overtake of some cars that were holding me up. Can a small deviation of route like that fool Strava?

That's odd, always found that when I used to record rides with my iPhone it wasn't overly accurate and missed out on segments, but since switching to a Bryton Rider 35 (identical to edge 500) I haven't missed any.

Maybe email them and see if they can fix it for you?

At a guess I would say yes. From some issues I've noticed recently it seems like Strava can be a bit vague when comparing segments. I've seen it categorise two segments as being the same despite having only about 60% of their 15km (ish) routes in commons - in that case it is being overly vague with its matching, which is the opposite perhaps of what you are encountering, but it does make me wonder about Strava's reliability when comparing routes to segments.

Or, could it be something as simple as you having started your GPS device into the segment, or stopping it before you exited the segment? I'm not sure whether Strava allows much leeway for start and end points of segments at all.

What really drives me nuts is when I struggle to climb over 1000mts on a spin (usually by 6-7mts ) and when I upload to the Strava site it tells me that I've climbed 996mts ...... Arghhhhhh!

Just remember it's 2:19 you have to beat, not 2:31 :D

It's on your list of KOMs. Have you made it private?

Cycled in with someone this morning the whole way on a few segments he beat me by 20 seconds. Stupid Strava.

    I'm using an I-phone.

I've found the odd time strava misses stuff or messes it up. But if you check it again in a few hours it's there. Maybe they just update the database proper every couple of hours and it'll get picked up.
