Is dublin, really second to seattle for out of hospital Cardiac arrest survival rates? Good to see that attacks on ES personnel will be highlighted in the upcoming series on DFB.

Are all the DFB lads paramedics? I've a relation in them and I'm sure hes not a paramedic...

Yep, all the firefighters are. They all do rotation on Ambulance duties also

All Dublin Firefighters and officers are fully trained and qualified Paramedics, all firefighters do a set rotation to man one of the DFB emergency ambulances and the officers repond to medical emergencies while manning the fire appilance on a daily basis

"Overall defibrillation was performed, either pre-hospital with a publically available AED or EMS AED or in the emergency department, for a shockable OOHCA rhythm in 23.7% (n 228). Resuscitation was initially successful, with return of spontaneous circulation and admission to hospital, in 15.1% of cases (n145). Of this cohort, 52 survived to hospital discharge, representing an overall OOHCA survival rate to hospital discharge of 5.2%(n 52/962)."

This extract is taken directly from the published Mater Hospital study. 5.2% is good, but the national data from the OCHAR which now reports on the whole country on a monthly basis shows the figure of 6.7% survival to hospital discharge for the eastern region (Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare) excluding the DFB calls ???

I'm not sure how that makes Dublin the second safest city
