JobBridge - Asking for Expenses

I seem to be having no joy in getting a fulltime job in an accounts based role - where I have a degree and previous work experience.

I have been looking at some of the jobs on Jobbridge - where you get an extra €50 a week. Seeing as I am fairly qualified to already do these jobs its kind of a last resort.

Is it fair of me to ask for the company to give me a lunch allowance and also a travel allowance - be it bus fare or money for a bike?

To be honest if I apply and get a job through jobbridge - financially I will be worse off due to costs of lunch/travel and clothes for the job.

While long term there is a small chance they may keep me on - thats only a small chance and as I said I am already qualified to do the role - so all I will be getting from it is more experience.

You're qualified, but do you have any relevant experience? If not, then you're exactly the sort of person who JobBridge is aimed at, at the E50 allowance is already for your expenses. I suspect a company wouldn't look kindly at being asked for more, especially if they are offering you real experience.

    I'm qualified and have experience.

So it seems I really have no option but to keep banging my head against a wall looking for a job in this joke of a country.

There's a queue for that wall!

There is no reason a company should not pay you for expenses incurred directly due to your role (e.g fuel for your car if going to meet a client on site) in fact they should cover these types of costs, however the state is giving you €50 a week extra to cover expenses such as travel to/from work and extra food costs so you shouldn't expect the company to also contribute to this, in fact they are not allowed under the rules.

They can only compensate you for expenses incurred directly, some employers have different views what they should pay for though so it would be no harm to discuss it with them what they do an don't intend to cover.
