Cool find. Pity there's no sound those six engines must have made quite a noise.

Shame theres no sound - apparently once heard it was never forgotten.

Unreliable piston engines lead to the B 36 being dubbed the US Air Force's most reliable 4 engined bomber !! In fairness it must be remembered it was a WW2 design in the event Britain fell and the US needed a trans continental bomber to attack European targets.

"Six turning, four burning" I believe pilots use to say about this wonderful plane. Of course the original models only had the six piston engines. The B36 is one of my favourite aircraft from the 40's and 50's. Great to see this vid clip.

Anyone see the film " Strategic Air Command " with Jimmy Stewart . He starts of on B-36s then transitions to the B-47 . Also tanking with KC-97s. I managed to video it about two years ago . My favourite aviation film after Top Gun .

Yeah I've seen it , little more than Cold War propaganda IMO , but I'd watch it any time over Top Gun :p

I went to see Topgun with a girl, i was sort of going out with . It was in the Adelphi in Dublin. The short film before hand was about BAOR lynx operations. I was very excited, i think she thought it was her, but it was the films . Cant wait for the 3D Topgun . Planning to go with a few of my aero mates. Saddo night. Brilliant. PS i think ill have to wear an anorak that night . Seriously tho, i know as a film its pure ****e. But all those F-14s. It should be classed as a porno, cause it gets me going !!!

I believe it was the first aircraft where the pilots called out throttle settings to an engineer, rather than adjusting the throttles by hand.

I still have no real concept of just how BIG the B-36 is...

And here next to a B-29, which I would consider a large bomber:

Well she was pretty hot, especially that time when they are sitting at the school desks in the hangar and she walks up between them, some ass . I have seen photos of her recently and to put it mildy, the years have not been kind to her . And it was on again last night CH4.

Here are a few pictures of 52-2827 I took at the Southwest Aviation Museum in Fort Worth in 1983 .When this museum closed the aircraft was moved to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson where it is now been restored and is on display.
    regards
