ive 2 mini type 8.4v batteries and when i charge them the night before a game (roughly around 8 or 9 that evening) when i decide to use them, this might be around 12 or 1 the next day i get 10-15 shots before they die,

i was wondering if they can be easily fixed or are they destined for the bin?

    cheers

are you using a smart charger? 8-9 seems a bit late so be charging batteries without one. they could have been over charged at some stage

Probably a dead cell. You can replace it fairly easily, but anymore than two dead cells (easily tested with a multimeter) and the repair becomes uneconomical.

Split open the plastic holding the pack together to expose the cells. The cells are usually wrapped in paper insulation, though sometimes plastic - try not to nick that insulation. Each cell is soldered to the next via a tag. A gentle pull on each end will expand them enough to not cause damage, but give you room to get probes on each cell.
Switch your meter to a DC voltmeter setting and apply probes to each end of each cell. Nominal voltage is 1.2V. Charged is approximated 1.5-1.7V (depending on age/chemistry). Discharged is .8-1.1V. Dead is .75V or below.

If its only a single cell, it's repairable by removing the offending cell, and replacing it with an identical new one (has to be the same characteristics). If there's two dead, it's down to personal choice whether it's easier to order replacements or a new battery. Any more than two, I'd strip out the good ones and keep them as spares for the next time that happened, and buy a new battery.
