Have to say, I really quite want a go of the Beretta. Not a massive fan of semis, but that one really looks a cracker. Might even solve my bias problems!

You can't go wrong with either of them three a lot of lads on here will say. I had to choose from similar guns a while ago and I went for Maxus. I tell you why. There's a lot of bad reviews on Benelli's cycling with light loads due to inertia loading system, so that put me off that one straight away.I was left then with browning Maxus and Beretta Extrema to choose from.Biggest factors that helped me to make a choice:

1.Brownings speed loading/unloading function that Beretta doesn't have.
2.Very light on the recoil. Only Beretta with kick-off could compare, but I have to say we couldn't see difference between my Maxus and friends Extrema kick off, one of the weekends while shooting clays.
    3. Very light gun, one of the lightest on the market, I think it's nearly 1 lb lighter than Extrema(and still very light on the recoil!)
    4. Five chokes + 2" choke for them longer shots+ triger lock+browning swivels+ the whole lot of spacers to adjust tilt and left/right of your stock, different colour exchangeable front sight.
5.You can strip it in seconds due to new lever action forearm-really like that one. Also 3/5 shot limiter pulls out handy (if needed)with the use of any regular door key.
6.Price.Important factor as well:). Maxus was much cheeper than Extrema.
    7. This one is personal but realy like the looks of Maxus, the forend not having screw cap sticking out just makes it different. Love it.

Havn't said that I was always Beretta fan (owned it before) but Maxus really just had that bit extra which helped me to make my choice.
    Hope this helps

I've a Benelli - never had any problems with recycling shells.......used 28g - 42g shells and it never once let me down.

My choice was limited as I wanted a left hand model which only Benelli do but I liked the slim fore-end ....similar to holding an O/U.

Also the Benelli is a doddle to clean.....no gas operated system!

    100% agree

Personally, I thought the a400 (light) with the kick off didn't handle as nicely as the one without.
Fyi - The benelli can refuse to cycle with some light loads sometimes - esp eley olympic (the blue ones), fine with superbs.

Just awaiting sub licence for a Bennelli Super Black Eagle 11,what sold me on it was this quote as well as a lot of searching,it brought a smile to my face when reading it & was better than any marketing tool I saw for any maker of shotguns ,brutally honest ?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but not firearms. I own the SBE and SBE2. The Benelli's are expensive and to buy the slug barrel and forearm for the SBE2 is like buying another gun. So as
a multi purpose weapon.. how deep are your pockets ?
I'm a duck and goose hunter. I have thousands of hours in blinds and boats and the simple truth is, Benelli's dont fail! In a perfect world there are many great shotguns out there
but I've seen them all fail in the moment of truth! Everyone's shotgun is better than the Benelli until they hunt 3 or 4 days in a row in the ice, mud, muck and rain and then CLICK!
Or it doesnt cycle/eject etc... Yeah ,yeah, yeah I should be cleaning my gun after every outing but the reality is.. I'm up at 4am, hunt til noon , clean birds , shower , eat , and off
to 4 to 12 shift and do it all again tomorrow and the next day and the next.... The last thing I need is to have to BABY my shotgun or it wont perform.
I cant even count how many 1187's have been dismantled in my boat, I call them oars !
My opinion, guns are like golf clubs, you wont use a driver on the green and you wont spend $1500 on a putter if you golf once a year. If you need a hardcore never fail bird gun, get the SBE2!,
If you have a budget and need a more all around gun for moderate use, look for something else.
    I hope that helped.
    Chris

have had an o/u for three years now and am thinking of changing it for a semi, two years ago the auld lad swaped the s/s for a semi and said he's ragging didnt do it sooner.

have to admit i really like the semi, but have a problem with them, the stock tends to be to short, first noticed this when i mounted the fathers lanber its lanber victoria lux, nice gun, but noticed my thumb and nose where touching.

so was wondering has anyone else ever had this problem? and zlezlius where did you get the maxus? was thinkin that was the gun id change for!
