Extending ground floor apartment

    Hi all,

We are looking to build an extension on the patio of our flat. We are in our own door ground floor end terrace apartment & there is a two storey duplex home above my flat. Our flat has 4 x 2.5m patio area. We are looking to extend to extend kind of sun room / small bed room in the patio without breaking any walls.

I am wondering that is it possible to do it because it’s a flat. But being totally new to all this would really appreciate any help / any ideas (desperately need a small extra bed room & can’t move / purchase to another home due to blender mistake I took it in 2007) and advice anyone could offer. I`m not totally sure how it would work being in a two bed end terrace ground floor apartment.

    Many thanks for looking

    Paranee

First of all check with the conditions of purchase and if the management company have set out any special conditions as part of the contract. I would also check that you actually own the patio area.

It might be not harm to have a pre-planning to establish if an extension would be acceptable in principal. If feed back is positive then engage the services of an architect or architectural technologist/technician to develop a proposal and take it from there. Of course seek a few quotations and don't rely on the first.

You don't own any of the building and I doubt you own any of the patio. Very unlikly that you'll be allowed.
