Firstly you'd have to check with the airline first, they're the ones transporting it. Some do, some don't. An ordinary suitcase would not suffice, a hard shell or metal fully lockable case would have to be used if they agreed

As far as I know they do but as I said, it must be in a lockable hard shell or steal case plus I think with Aer Lingus the airsoft gun must be disassembled in the case. I could be wrong though, best just to call each airline if you have any questions.

Doesn't need to be disassembled. Or didn't when last I used them. But it was required to be in a 'secure' container.

Bottom line however is this; OP, whatever airline you're using, check the fine-print regarding oversize/sports baggage & any relevant bits regarding firearms, which will probably be the closest you'll find regarding criteria for airsoft.

Just as an aside; almost all airsoft guns bought in the US are required under US law to have the top 1/8th of the barrel coloured a lovely nuclear-day-glo orange, and no trademarks (unless specifically licensed for the US market).

When I rang them about transporting aeg's to Berget they told me they would have to be disassembled, so for obvious reasons I didn't choose them!:p
