    The duties of a Reserve Garda are as follows:
    Station duty, other than the care and custody of prisoners;
    Assistant to the Station Orderly;
    Communications room duty, to include monitoring CCTV
    Foot patrol, accompanied by a member of the permanent Garda Service.
    Static security duty;
    Road traffic checkpoint duties, accompanied by a full-time member;
    Duty at the outer cordon of major events such as festivals and major
    sporting events;
    Assisting in the event of accidents, fires and major emergencies;
    Giving evidence in court;
    Community/Neighbourhood Policing

    Look awesome in the uniform.

    Depending on station most common is third person in car or accompanying a regular member on the beat.

    In certain areas you will often be assigned to the public office or occasionally second person (observer) in the car. Checkpoints etc come out of the above (ie if your on the beat or in car)

    At events etc you may assist in general policing or traffic duty. It really varies from place to place - some districts refuse to use GRs at events, others practically have half reserves half regular Gardai at events.
