Hard to tell from your photograph .........

    Is it walnut veneer ?

Looks Italian c.1900 ........ but cant really tell from the dodgy photo

bit too 'ott' for todays fashion.... might be worth 300-500 or so if its old

Your pictures aren't great quality, the divil's in the detail, you need to look at joints to date it. If you take good pics of those (and the legs and ornament up close so we can see the quality of the carving) folk could date it better for you.

If the joints are 'dove tail' joints you've either got an antique or a good quality modern piece. Let's assume it's over 100 years old. If they're even/ uniform they're likely to machine cut and it's victorian and worth maybe 300, if they're uneven and have skinny cuts, it's older, regency/rococo and worth over 500. I'm a guessing amature who just reads the odd book and looks at auction websites so I'd not take my advice too seriously, in fairness I'm killing time on boards like everyone else.:o

    Just consider this

a)Begin with this premise, It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it, I know it sounds a bit silly, but if it's an antique in 'fashion' and the market has some cash it's worth more. Right now, folk just love that white washed
Gustavian stuff (Swedish antiques). Dark wood is still waiting in the wings and is good value (unfashionable and cheaper).

    2) If you sell it to an antiques dealer, you'll get less money that if you sell it yourself because they've to pay overheads and 'store' it till it's sold. On the other hand, however the plus side is they take it off your hands straight away

    3) It's storage (always a plus) so it's a useful piece of furniture and there's always a good market for cupboards and storage and such.

Just re-read the last post. Okay, so say it's worst case senario, if it has been painted over, and it's modern, it could be from the 80's!! Victoriana was very fashionable then, dark wood... you might get 30 quid for it. With glass... another 15.

You can see how hard it is to judge from a photo the prices from a photo can vary wildly

Looks like a modern repro to me but without better pics it's hard to be sure.
