LCVP Recorded Interviews

    Hello,

I am a new LCVP teacher and I am stressed out with the portfolios that are due next week :eek: (Easter break used for final corrections)

I am going to do my recorded interviews this week and I am just wondering if some more experienced LCVP teachers could provide some advice. I have downloaded a list of questions to ask the students that are available on http://lcvp.slss.ie/. I am just wondering can you ask each students the same questions or do I need to vary it? How do I start each interview?

I did LCVP myself so I am not totally clueless but I am just making sure I do this correctly (I am the only LCVP teacher in the school).

The portfolios are due the 30th of April (excuse my ignorance) but does this mean that I need them in the department before the 30th or post them that week?

Again I apologise for my ignorance but these are the details that are not taught on the Hdip and I need to learn!

Thank you and all help is appreciated!!

    Hi Empsey,

I'm not an LCVP teacher but I have helped out with the technical end of things in my school when recording interviews.

The way we do it is normally the students are called one after the other like the orals, at the start of the interview they hold up an A4 sheet with their exam number printed on it so they can be identified, can't remember if they introduce themselves or not and then the LCVP teacher gets on with the interview.

Perhaps the start of the interview could just be confirming the student's identity and that they are doing LCVP for Leaving Cert and then start into the questions.

    Hi,

If you have not already done so it might be an idea to check with teachers in your school to see if any teacher there taught lcvp a few years ago. As far as I am aware any teacher can teach LCVP so perhaps a staff member in your school taught it at some stage or can advise. Best of luck with it.

    Hi Empsey
Hope I can be of some help. Firstly the Portfolios are not sent to the department on the 27th of April. This is the final day students can submit them. They are put in the brown envelopes received from the State Exams and the students write their exam numbers on them and then seal them. They are then retained in the school until the day of the written exam. On that day at the end of the exam the envelope is given back to students. They put their exam paper into the clear pocket at the front of the envelope. They are then taken up by the superintendent and sent in large orange envelopes to the Department. Next the recorded interviews should be between 3-5 minutes long. The students exam number should be displayed at all times during the interview. The interview should be based on the candidates experience of Link Modules and the activities they have undertaken as part of the programme. Students should be encouraged to expand on their answers without prompting from the interviewer. Try to vary the questions asked in the Interview so that the interviews don't come across as the same to the examiner. Make sure the candidates are presented well, ties completely straight and up to the button on the neck if the students wear ties. The more information the student gives the higher marks they will score. Finally these guidelines were given in a circular from the department.
    · Plan questions to provide structure and direction to the interview
    · Avoid complex or ambiguous questions
    · Ask the candidate questions which are open-ended, thus allowing candidates the opportunity to communicate their opinions clearly and in logical sequence.
    · Give opportunity to candidate to discuss a variety of activities he/she has engaged in as part of the Link Modules.
    Hope this helps!

Hi there, we done ours before easter, the same questions were asked to everyone, I was wondering since you are a lcvp teacher if you could answer this question, if we do an enterprise action plan on a table quiz, do all students have to have the same figures, materials and dates or can they vary? please can you help because I really need to get this done

ccazza, thank you SO much! I was at an inservice last night and received a lot of information so I am much more confident. Thank you again.

Heane, I am with you on the enterprise action plan. I was not the students teacher last year and they are all doing different fund-raisers?? Is this ok? I am very worried about this module as I find it very unclear as to what is entailed and the students hate it. I would love information on this module if anybody has any or even sample EAP's. I have looked at every file on the LCVP website.

Also we were told that next year the portfolios are due early March next year. Thank God as with the exam the 3rd of May there is very little downtime to study!

Hi. Plans for Fundraisers are all perfect. Look at the marking scheme and follow this to make sure students obtain good marks. The majority of the Action Plan must be in the Future tense, the part that must be in Past tense is the Analysis of Research Methods. If the students have done a group Action Plan they must have at least 1 group aim and 1 individual Aim in their Aims and Objectives- Make sure they are related to the SLO's. They must have at least 2 different types of Research Methods e.g. looking up the Internet, completing a questionnaire. Their analysis must give a definite outcome from this research-give a good conclusion. Their Action Steps must include at least one action from the day of the event as must the Schedule of Time which should be sequential. Their Costs must include Income, Expenses and Profit. Finally their evaluation which again must be in the future tense must link back to their aims. Again if they did a group plan one must link to their group aim and one to their individual. Hope this helps!:):):)

Thanks again for the great advice that has been given. We were told at the lcvp meeting last week to make sure students know the different acts/legalisation that are required for LCVP. Does anybody have any documents on these acts?
