    Hey Guys,

I need a little help,i left my phone in a taxi on friday night, have a tracker app on it and tracked to a house on saturday rang the phone all day and night(its locked so cant be used only function is answering it) but no one answerd it and the battery has no died i belive, now i work in telecoms so i checked the address and got a number, rang it and got a woman who told me a person who lives there is a taxi driver, got his number rang him and basicly says he remembers me but doesnt have it,he was in his car he said and checked the seat in the front where i was seating and said its not there,he says someone my have taken it when they got in when he was doing his job on saturday and sunday but i said to him i was ringing all day saturday and night so he certainly would have heard it go off as it is a loud phone and how could he not have seen it and somelse did when he got into his taxi that day so i belive he has it and is just playing dumb.

Bu basicly my question is where do i stand, can i ring the guards with the info i have, will it be credable enough, anybody with adive would be greatly appriciated as i really need this phone back?

You should have really reported it to the Garda before you accessed a persons private information using your position in your job.

Only the Gardaí can tell you if that is enough information to go on, but it would be quite difficult to get them to go after it since they would need a warrant to search the house (seems awkward for just one phone) and also he could have sold it on already. Keep watch on the online adverts websites for it.

Iv checked its not private information, its in the directory so publicly available

and i will keep an eye but going to be hard to spot i guess

Suppose the lesson here is not to keep ringing your phone. A thief is unlikely to answer but less ringing means the battery lasts longer and the potential to track it.

Might also be worthwhile contacting the taxi lost property office. It is conceivable that the driver may have got concerned about the traceability and quietly dropped it off.
