just copied and pasted my comment here from the everything else hip hop thread.

just watched it, couldn't wait. man snoop and dre killed it, great performance. snoop getting 90'000 + jumping around to jump around by house of pain class, most of their classics played.

the recipe didn't sound great live imo but lamar killed it though. the 50 intro was class, came out of no where with a good performance.

pac hologram was epic, gangsta party was class with snoop. Em and dre were good but em still looks like he's fresh out the clinic, needs to liven up a bit.

some sort of petition should be started to get these to tour Europe would be priceless. In all i enjoyed it but its no up in smoke by any means but still a very good concert , defiantly rather see dre and snoop over WTT anyday.

Snoop Dogg - how is one person that cool?

he was on his bob marley ish! high as a kite. :D He was class though and i didnt mind wiz just performing the 1 song with him, that song is pretty good anyway. I originally feared wiz might have his own slot for solo stuff thats why i was a bit piss*d.

took this link from jigga on everything else hip hop, solid link of the full performance.

Pretty amazing performances by everyone, don't think anyone expected the 2pac hologram to be as good as it was and it's getting a lot of attention today, wish I was there for it :pac:

Yeah, everyone's talking about the hologram. It was amazing though. Like, how do they do that??

I was more blown away by Snoop though, if I'm honest. Thought he stole the show really.

As awesome as it was, the 2pac hologram made me incredibly sad :(

Snoop was cool. His performance at this was good but made me realise how much he's fallen with the quality of his most recent projects. I get more amusent from his dominance on #puffpuffpasstuesdays on twitter then anything he actually puts out.

Id pay to see a hologram Tupac quicker then I would any of the others, even if I feel it would go against what Tupac would have wanted. Wasn't his only fear of death, reincarnation itself?

I got chills when the lights went out and we all knew 2pac was coming.

I agree with others, that performance was all Snoop for the most part he definitely stole the show.

Eminem was absolutely terrible. He apparently can not perform any of his older catalogue anymore and can barely perform INAD.

Till I collapse was decent enough.

how do you know that he cant perform any of his older stuff? id agree though wasnt feeling him the minute i saw him, it was like an air of depression entered the building tbh.

Because he has not the energy. He needed the drugs to write them, he clearly needs the drugs to perform them too.

He was the worst out of all who performed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,213 ✭✭✭PrettyBoy

From what I saw Em was definitely the most uninteresting..no real energy, he's missing something these days. Dre, Wiz, Snoop, Kendrick, 50, they were all full of energy..just seemed like Em didn't want to be there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

i think Em can't relax on stage anymore without the drugs
so his presence on stage is very forced & awkward

thats why another MMLP etc will never be made... i agree on his performance could of been a bit more energetic alright, the hood over the head with the dark clothes has to stop for me.

but in reality all the people who dont like recovery might aswell give up on em now because this is his new style/sound, he's been like this a while now. Still an incredible rapper who's arguably one of the best ever, defiantly the biggest anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,246 ✭✭✭conor.hogan.2

Relapse was thrash. Recovery was ok, but an average average album in general.

Relapse had maybe 3 good songs whereas Recovery was several times better. Hopefully his next album will be more consistent though. I don't want another SSLP, MMLP just want something more consistent more like a combination of Relapse and Recovery combined into one with all the nonsense cut out.

He is the biggest. Few argue he is the best though, amazing still though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

i thought Recovery was a good album
    Relapse was average at best
i think his next album will most likely similar to Recovery

I hate the fact that he never smiles, doesn't ever appear to be happy or show signs of being interested in anything.

For anyone interested in how they did the hologram there is information in this article.

A tour is probably unlikely but we can always hope. The chief creative officer from the company that created the hologram was interviewed for the article. The last line gives a sliver of hope.
"To create a completely synthetic human being is the most complicated thing that can be done," Digital Domain's chief creative officer, Ed Ulbrich, said in a phone interview Monday.

He said that the performances of the rapper's hits "Hail Mary" and "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" weren't simply old ones captured on film and repurposed: "This is not found footage. This is not archival footage. This is an illusion."

"This is just the beginning," Mr. Ulbrich said. "Dre has a massive vision for this."

Dre has more visions than songs. I hope more of this happens if it does not turn gimmicky.

Cool article, it is 2D and not really a hologram.

The Japenese created a fake 3D hologram singer who does live shows, using the synthesized voice - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTXO7KGHtjI

If they sort out the hologram sliding about then it'll be perfect. To me one of the most impressive things about it is how his chain moves, must've been some painstaking work to get that to look right.

well im happy, a mega tour is being discussed now so if it does well in the states which it will then there's a good chance of it hitting europe like WTT.

That's just a rehash of the article that I posted yesterday. It's not definitely up for discussion. I'm sure they will have words about it. It's all over the internet at the moment and they would be very silly to pass up on this chance.

The 'hologram' cost at least $100,000 so I'm not sure if it would be economically possible to do a tour. If they did then I'm sure the prices would be quite expensive.

Well Pac has been known to "run up in your spot like CJ from San Andreas" from time to time.

I'd say it cost way more than $100k. I'd imagine the money mentioned was to do with the design, development, actions, voice and overall creation of the hologram..if it's all done and Dre has it now could it not be projected again and again?

Tour won't happen. Only way it will is if Dre releases Detox which is now looking more unlikely than ever.

Well the estimate was between $100 and $400k. I went for the lower end of the scale. I saw one guy on Facebook saying it was 10 million, but I think the 100-400k figure is more realistic.

I presume it could be used again and again. As long as they have the glass and the projector I'm sure they're fine.

If they were going to use it on a tour then they'd have to go and create a whole other 'hologram'. It's been seen by nearly 10 million people in one day over a series of different videos. It'd be pretty stupid of them in my opinion to use that same performance from Pac.

At most I'd say they'd do a handful of shows in the US and probably won't even consider Europe. Dre said he was taking a break from music altogether, no album release date in sight and in fairness he's getting old, pushing 50 and touring the US and Europe is just something that won't happen with Dre. Em hasn't got an album coming any time soon and really doesn't look fit to go on a world tour. Kendrick and Wiz are touring together in a few months.

Maybe Snoop and 50 could do it...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,246 ✭✭✭conor.hogan.2

    Have you seen Dre recently?
He is pushing 50, he is in better shape than most people half his age.

If he wanted to tour Europe he could and would. That said I don't think he will bother unless he wants to see more of Europe.

Chuck D is 51 and toured last year to SA.

No, he has not done a lot of things. He might start but he it is very unlikely unless he wants to see Europe and tour.

He spends all his time in the studio. If I had to guess I'd think that he wouldn't be comfortable travelling from country to country for a month without being able to get in his comfort zone in the studio. Dre's not the type that would be happy with a laptop and an MPC on a tour bus/hotel room, he needs to be in the studio.

He's recently said that he's going to take a break from music altogether to spend more time with his family. That itself is very ambitious for Dre IMO, I don't think it'll be long before he gives in and goes back to work.

The only way Dre is going to see Europe is if he takes a vacation with his wife and kids. He won't be coming here on a Tour bus with Snoop and Eminem.

I agree the chances are very slim.

But if Dre did come he would be on private jets, private hotel rooms or in the houses of top Producers or DJs all over Europe.

He would not be squashed up with Em in a campervan and locked away with a few bits and pieces in a hotel room.

That said if I had to bet on it I would bet on him not going anywhere outside America (possibly Canada too).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,132 ✭✭✭Andy_rse

Could really only see him doing a residency the way Prince, MJ and all the super duper stars do. Rent a mansion and do for example week of shows in on arena instead of going all over the place. Make the fans come to him.

Like someone already said hes never been a touring guy before, doubt hes gonna start now. Touring for most rappers is out of necessity and how they make most of their money. Its not something Dre needs to do.

i know what your saying and all the common sense in the world indicates it wont happen but i honestly have a strange feeling cochella was the start of something. I even heard them talking about it on today fm earlier about how there's negotiations going on already about a possible world tour. I think people are underestimating the actual success of cochella and the 2pac hologram! it is actually ground breaking, i know the gorillas do it etc but this is 2pac!.

if this goes even nationwide in america, it has a very good possibility of totally out clipsing up in smoke no matter what the line up, dr dre and snoop with this 2pac hologram alone will sell out everywhere if this happens a worldwide tour with the possible edition of eminem,50 and lamar could possibly be the biggest hip hop tour in history.

dont worry about their schedules, if this concert tour goes ahead all rappers will be more than looked after, they'l make more money of this tour than any other venture they have lined up.

Dre is a pro. He kills the rumours of the tour in one sentence and then 5 seconds later he says that it might yet still happen. Covers his back if anything does or does not happen.
