Standard Of Refereeing In Hurling

I thought yesterdays game was the straw that broke the camels back.Does anybody else feel aggrieved or frustrated with the standard of hurling referees since the beginning of the league in general?

I can't honestly say I can choose the best hurling referee in the country off hand unlike the football but Kelly rode us yesterday and Gavin rode us in the Tipperary match also but yesterday there were decisions that were not made which should have been and farcical decisions made by a referee who was informed by a misinformed linesman.

Football referees often get criticised and I am quick to jump to the defense of referees in general but from a fan point of view, I think footballing referee standards are beginning to catch up now on their hurling counterparts.

Can anybody from Galway also give their view on Kelly yesterday. I don't want this looking like I am biased but I have noticd this in other games lately.

I believe that After the Kilkenny league game where Kelly rode us again that Daly and the DCB lodged a complain with the GAA regarding the standard of refereeing by Kelly in that game. Surprise surprise we got him in the relegation match and the he gave us feck all.

For example Ryan O'Dwyer was down injured about 30 yards from the Dublin goal and the referee insisted that Gary Maguire had to puck the ball out. Dublin conceded 2 points while Ryan was on the ground. In the second half Joe Canning was down injured and he stopped the game and wouldn't let Gary take it.

I could list numerous more occasions from yesterday where he was extremely poor

This was unreal Canning was down twice and he stopped play for him, referee should be ashamed of himself

I didn't see yesterday's game so I can make no comment on that. But on the highlighted bit, are you for real? Kelly played with Dublin for most of the game in Nowlan Park. Kilkenny simply couldn't buy a free in that match. When he finally penalised Dublin late in the first half, most of the crowd rose in unison to give him an ironic round of applause. Two of the Dublin goals in that match came directly from utterly blatant fouls on Kilkenny players earlier in the move.

Commented on this yesterday at the game, the same thing happened in Nolan park, not sure who was injured but he made Dublin play on. Richie Hogan then went down and play was stopped.

He is an awful ref, for everyone, not just 1 side.
