Turning things around?

    Hello,
I finished my JC mocks at the start of March and got poor enough results. I ended up getting an A, 5 B's, 2 C's, 2 D's and an E in HL Maths which as you can imagine I'm not pleased with.

I'm just wondering is it possible to get my D's and E up a grade for the Junior Cert, and maybe pushing some B's to A's? I'm back to school tomorrow and it's only 7 weeks until the exam starts, and I'm just hoping that the mock examiners marked the papers difficult.

I've done quite a bit of study over the year, but it doesn't seem to be paying off. :(

I got a few grinds over the holidays too.

    Thanks.

Well as long as you're putting a lot of work into studying and homework and listening in class, I think you're all set for them honours ;)

Tomorrow is a new day and new week. This is probably the last time I'm gonna be online for ages on this and well I recommend no internet (excluding marking schemes) until jc.

Hi - as a person who upped her grades in every subject in the JC (bar one, haha), yes, it's very doable. You just have to really knuckle down over the last few weeks. Sit down as soon as you can and go through every subject and its subjects - make a plan of every topic you need to go over, and work out what is possible to achieve in the time frame you have.
I could help you more if I knew what grades you got for each subject. As for the Maths, well have you considered grinds? I failed HL maths in the mocks too, but I got grinds for a few weeks before the exam and they were really beneficial - however they are only recommended if you really struggle with maths overall. If it's the case that you're only having difficulty with 1 or 2 topics, get talking to your teacher and ask them to go over a few things with you - it's what they're there for! :)

I got mostly Bs and one C (in CSPE, lol) in my junior cert mocks, but got 9 As and a B in my actual junior cert. In the actual thing I finished my CSPE paper in 29 minutes and got an A. :pac: So it's definitely possible to turn those grades around. I found that the revision in class over the few weeks between mocks and exams helped a huge amount. In most subjects we just went over loads of exam papers and that's great for improving grades. The mocks aren't always the best indication of what you'll get in the actual exams.
