nerve damage after blood donation?

Sorry if this isn't the right forum, I did look and couldn't see a better one!

I gave blood 5 days ago and when the nurse inserted the needle it hit a nerve (nearly jumped off the bed!) and since then I've had pins and needles type pain shooting down the arm to my hand every time I stretch or twist it, my wrist also feels very weak when I try to lift with it.

was wondering if this had happened to anyone else and how long until the pins and needles thing went away?

(I'm not looking for medical advice, just experiences!)
