They're probably broken and destroyed anyway being a 3.0

Isuzu are rounding them up before they can cause any more heartbreak.

Im the same 3.0 never any hassle and have her 7 years, it seems here in Ireland they have a bad name, i suppose it depends on how ya treat them like any other vehicle or ya can be unlucky i suppose and have trouble but every band of vehicle i feel has there problems, nothing nowadays with all the electrics and emission gizmo's is 100% reliable.

Ive been reading a bit about these 3.0 Troopers. I saw one for sale, 2k with FSH and all the injectors/timing belt done through recall. Once the recall work has been done, are there still problems with them?

If you dont know from actual experience and are just repeating what youve read from others, please refrain from posting. Im looking for facts from owners and anyone with genuine first hand experience. I dont mean to sound rude, but Ive seen a lot of posts on Boards where someone has asked for advice and all the doom mongers come out the woodwork with quips, but really they dont seem to know what theyre talking about.

Ive read a few reviews on WhatCar and Parkers Guide, they dont mention that there is a huge problem that every single 3.0 Trooper is blowing itself up. Reading some of the posts on Boards, you would think that every single one was ready to explode at any second and its best to stick to the 3.1 earlier model.

I dont actually know anything about them, other than what Ive read. Has everyone with a 3.0 has the work done on recall? Did you notice anything different after it came back from the garage? What is the best and worst points of the vehicle.

    Thanks

I bought my first trooper in may of this year. Read all the reviews on how good and bad they were. All recalls were done on it. It had a full service history with high miles but it didn't bother me. I picked it up cheap and had to put a few pound into it but nothing major. I've been told if you replace the oil every 5k it will never give u a days trouble and so far mine has been the best jeep I've had and it gets some major abuse and pulls some big trailers. So I say go for it.

    Ps. I know a guy with a 3.0 with over 600,000 miles.

I had a 3.0 for 2 years and 50-odd thousand miles. It was a money pit due to its age and previous owner being tough on it, but it looked beautiful. I went through it, sorted all suspension, brakes and lights that needed attention and replaced the water pump. Then it decided to crack its cylinder head and I said enough was enough. My regret is that I didn't get a conversion done at Burgins in the Wales, but instead I sold it to a trader. I believe that if the engine is running properly, they are as good as any other 4x4 of similar vintage, but getting to where you can rely on the 3.0 is the great unknown for me.

My neighbour was an isuzu service manager, his view was "the 3.0 in the Trooper doesn't even look like an engine, never mind work like an engine". Seeing as he is a gifted mechanic, I tend to respect what he says.
