Plenty still in there from the Grand National and wouldn't want to touch any of them. Knockara Beau and Lie Forrit looks solid chances.

Benny Be Good might find some form here, never know. Harry The Viking will get the trip and this is definitely his target with Sir Alex the Scot as the owner. Ikorodu Road is aimed at it too after two impressive races lately and trainer says there is more to come. Portrait King the Eider winner looked to have plenty more in the locker when winning over just shy of the Scots National distance last time. Not harshly treated for that either although that was a weaker race. Could it be a National double for Dom Alco with Quentin Collonges? Past winner and perennial performer Merigo will surely have his chance. Aimed for the race all season no doubt. Other form can be disregarded and won last time to get a nice weight for the race I'd say. Any Currency is an underacheiver but if he can being it all together he's in with a shout. Lightly raced Pettifour hasn't jumped a fence competitively in two years but entered here. Gets a decent mark relative to his class but a bit of a guess whether he goes here and can perform.

So much depends on the top weights. Burton Port won't go, Midnight chase won't go. Junior fell at the second at Aintree so he might go. That would mean the weights go up 8lbs.

    Junior +8
    Tidal Bay +12
    Deep Purple +14
    Benny Be Good +17
    West End Rocker +17 (Ground?)

That could bring horses as low as Posh Bird (8-11) and Bellflower Boy (8-6) into the mix.

    Interesting...

if the ground turns out soft or softish, i'll definitely be backing Merigo

was hoping for a better price than 6s for harry

merigo a better option at 10s imo
never runs a bad race at the track, never been out of the places
    at ayr
hopefully some rain between now and then

Just stuck the €10 free bet I got from Paddy Power after there grand national website meltdown on Junior!

Any Currency for me. He will come good some day and I'll keep backing him over a distance (3m5+) at big prices until he does.

At first glance Walkon is a curious entry and Amos may have laid Lie Forrit out for this.

Red Harbour looks good as does Lively Baron (want to watch his last race again though)

At first glance these stuck out but will have plenty more looks between now and then.

    Knockara Beau
    Abbeybraney
    Lively Baron

walkon was a class hurdler in his day, interesting one. West End - ground will prob be too fast for him if hes still in the race

Junior is far from certain to line up and if that is the case then the weights go up another 9lbs. That brings Posh Bird into the weights proper currently on 9-5 and all above her.

I am such a fool, I was looking through the list again and thought I had unearthed a gem in Merigo until I saw he was 7/1 second favourite :o

Haven't really looked into it, but think Knockara Beau will relish a stamina test. 10/1 is tempting me

Quentin collonges and portrait king for me looking at the weights, but age might be against the latter.

Cant resist Merigo at 7/1, carrying 10-2, 7 runs, 4 wins & 3 places in Ayr, won and just beaten half a length here over 4m 1

The more I look at Knockara Beau the more I like it. He's been screaming for a step up in trip, his second to Shackalackaboomboom looks really good, he took second near the finish, he's sure to be better over further. His run in the Gold Cup wasn't devoid of promise, kept on at the end

Yeah, I had him at 7.05 earlier in the week and was surprised to see him so low today, so I didn't invest anymore on it.
