If I am clamped by NCPS, for example, could I plead ignorance?

If I say I can't read English, and I am an Irish speaker, could I claim my money back?? Just a discussion .. not using this as legal advice :P

Like in a shopping centre or apartment complex? Don't think so. You'd have a case if it was a local authority or semi-state but companies and people in the private sector aren't obliged to waste money keeping the Irish translators in jobs.

I doubt you'd get away with it as English is compulsory till leaving cert. So if you can speak and read Irish you where taught English in school, which is illegal to leave before IIRC 16.

I'm sure there are plenty of non nationals who can speak but not read English who have been clamped.

The trick is to come back to find a clamp beside you're car ;-) This can only happen on private property.

You can of course plead ignorance, you can plead whatever you like; it will of course fail and if you take it to court it will increase your costs several fold.

BTW absent some highly mitigating explanation for your username I think you should take your posts elsewhere.
