Really basic questions about shares / "Stocks" app

    Hi,

I have the "Stocks" app on my iPhone. If I want to see how Tesco is doing (for example), I type in "Tesco" and many results are returned including

    • TSCO.L (London)
    • TES0 (NASDAQ)
    • TSCDY.PK (OTC Markets)
    • TCO.F (Frankfurt)
All of the above are also listed as "Tesco PLC". So: which one is the one to watch, i.e. the "main" Tesco that we all shop in?

Similarly, a search for Bank of Ireland returns some of the following results:

    • IRE (NYSE) The Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland
    • BKIR.L (London) The Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland
    • BIR.R (Irish) BANK OF IRELAND
    • BIR.DU (Dusseldorf Stock Exchange) BANK OF IRELAND
Again, which of these is the Bank of Ireland as we know it in this country?

The same company listed on different exchanges.
Tesco is British so "main" listing is TSCO.L (London)
TES0 (NASDAQ) is ADR quoted in USD
