So, I proposed to my boyfriend yesterday, completely unplanned. (We pinky swore and said no takie-backsies, so it's all official like. :p) We said we'd pick up some sort of token ring/jewellery after next payday. As you might have imagined, we're not too hung up on doing things conventionally. :)

We don't have any money set aside for this, and we'd rather spend €50-€100 each than €1000 that we can put towards the wedding. We're each looking at getting something for the other. It doesn't have to be diamonds; it doesn't even have to be a ring though we'd both prefer one.

Does anyone know of any Dublin city centre jewellers that might be worth looking at?

(Oh, and if you want to comment to advise that cheap jewellery isn't worth it, won't last etc. there's no need. We know. If you want us to go over €100 each feel free to send me the cash. :))

    Congratulations!

Not that it matters but what age are you???

For your budget Argos has very good value IMO.

There are some nice womens silver rings in argos small ones with stones very demure,
For the mans ring I would go else where and get a silver band, I'm not mad on gold white gold but maybe because of the budget silver is a good option but then again maybe its because im allergic to my gold ring >:(

If you have leaner fingers you can find nice antique rings, I'm not sure what jewlers would have but from what I've seen the everyday rings are fine but the ones even made from basically the same stuff that is meant for couples just shoot up in price to keep up with engag/wed prices

Well thats places like Fields or franchises, small family run jewlers who sell a lot of jewlery for everyday wear are good places to look as well.

You can defo get two rings for 100 euro.

I'd recommend Martin Gear on Mary street - he's got a nice selection and can also make rings to your budget. I went to see him about a ring and 90% certain I will find the design I want and have him make it.

Yeah, Argos is definitely on the list to check out!

Heh, I realise the post does sort of savour of giddy young love, but I'm 29 and we've been living together for four years. :)

Antique rings are a really good idea for me anyway, I have freakishly thin fingers so that could definitely work! Thanks for all the advice! :)

I second Argos as well. Not only for women's but for men's. My OH and I talked about Titanium men's rings before and I checked them out in Argos. I thought they'd be expensive but the men's titanium rings were about 30 euro!
It's a cool alternative to the traditional men's rings.
Do keep in mind though that it cannot be resized and they'd have difficulty cutting it off should there ever be a need for emergency removal.

Titanium is definitely something my hairier half thinks is cool, so that's an option alright. Hadn't realised it was that inexpensive! Thanks!

    Congrats! :)

Might be a bit more than you intend on spending, but saw this on Pigsback Megadeals today:

Wow, that's some discount! I think I'll still be good and stay in budget, but that's a great deal.

Search eBay for a ring of the same spec and I'll bet you a pint you'll find it cheaper.

Most of the daily-deal sites are full of crap jewellery at the moment.
