need new wheels to keep me on the road until the new bike arrives (my current wheels are f**ked).

nothing too fancy-my current bike is shimano but the new one is campag so don't want to shell out on high cost wheels that won't get used once i have the new one!

    so: racing 7's: 134euro (bike 24)
    racing 5's: 179 (bike 24)
    shimano rs30: 144 (rosebikes)

don't want to spend more than the above really.

    thoughts?

If you are going to buy new wheels when your campag bike arrives then I suggest you spend more money and purchase better wheels one and just get a campag freehub for them so you can change it later.

If not, then from the above list I would get the Fulcrum 7. In the same league are the Mavic Aksiums as well.

i'm getting wheels built for the new bike (may have even been built by now!).

i'll prob hang onto the current bike for the winter anyway, since i'd get feck all if i sold it on! so i'll need wheels for it anyway i suppose.

no point going for 5's over the 7's?

If it's for a training-everyday use bike I wouldn't bother with the 5s. 80gr less and "aero" spokes are the differences really. Wait for another opinion in any case :)

yep, everyday training, gettin covered in muck and dirt and slurry and silage and not getting the love anymore bike!

i like your thinking! besides, those 80g will make me stronger...

Racing 7s are fine. I've had a pair for almost 4 years now. Changed the bearings once or twice is all. Lots of use.

went for the fulcrum 7's. then remembered i could probably do with a new chain and cassette.

knowing my luck the new bike will show up in about a week and they won't get any use (*crosses fingers*)
