    Hey,
Basically im wondering what kind of training goes on day to day in the typical MMA club,my closest one is in Portlaoise,is there much sparring, etc?

Depends on the club, larger gyms will have classes which specialise in the various techiques needed in MMA, from BJJ to Muay Thai, to boxing and sub-mission wrestling.

    Where I train its a small shoot-fighting gym, 80% grappling, 20% striking.

you'll have ground classes, grappling, stand-up, kickboxing etc.

in my place we spar / roll at the end of the class for about 15 mins. then open mat after training were you can get bashed to your hearts content

I think John Ging is the head coach down there, why not give him a shout and ask?

I've started training down there and its great.

There are MMA classes (grappling & striking), BJJ Gi and Nogi (grappling), Kickboxing, Boxing (striking). They also have an excellent Strength & Conditioning facility. Best to go down and have a chat with John and see what you are interested in.

Yeah as already posted, go and call down to the gym.

They had really good facilities and trainers there, and the timetable is packed with classes. Sound bunch of lads to train with too.

They have a facebook page you can contact them on before hand if you wish.
