Has been nearly nothing rabbit wise on the ground I've permissions to walk for the last few months but I took a wee stroll with the air rifle there yesterday morning and they're everywhere now!

Brought home a fairly large lad and a wee one for damn near zero effort - would have gone for more but I only had a handful of pellets as I'm having trouble getting the one's the rifle likes.

Left them both in salt water last night and am just sitting down to the small lad (pan seared in butter before roasting) on toast and am getting the other fella ready for the slow cook for dinner this evening.

Happy as the proverbial pig I am! :D

i normaly just gut skin and take the ribs chop them off each side bone and all and take the full back legs off meat on the bone, and strip the rest of the bones for meat, about 1 or 2 rabbits depending in size
    then i use this recipe

I'm seeing the same around me. There's a lot more bunnies about compared to this time last year. Every field I went into today had bunnies running around it.

I'd say the mild winter this year has allowed them to multiply more than the two previous winters, thats why there are more than usual.

Someones missing their hunting buddy so - saw 2 ferrets like this a few years back near the Curragh. Great rabbiting country and lots of lads enjoy the sport in those parts with ferrets and nets.

Great news all 'round so. :D

Simmered the second lad in a tomato and white wine sauce for 2 hours last night and served it up.

First time I gave herself rabbit, which I didn't tell her until she was almost finished and had remarked several times on how gorgeous it was. :p;)

Have the remainder for lunch today.

I'd say CJ has it right there - mild winter could have helped them along a good bit alright. As for the mixy, no sign in these two anyway - they were as healthy as you could ever wish for. There's one field I passed by though where there are definitely too many too close so I'll likely focus efforts on that for the next while. Try and keep the numbers reasonable and do what I can to avoid it getting in.
