Anyone got this app yet for their phone and what do they make of it?

It looks really good and apparently justs costs for the cradle to attach to your putter.

I bought one of these around Christmas. It is quite good. I am not sure how accurate it is, but it does appear to give consistent readings. Anything that gets you putting consistently has to be good. 30 euro for a cradle is pretty expensive, but combined with the free app is pretty cool.

Can you view a history of all your previous strokes to see are you improving over time. View them on a PC in statistical/graphical format or something similar?

Also, where did you get cradle?

    Thanks

It records each set of strokes. So you can see your improvements. Never tried to views them on a PC. Picked it up in McGuirks.

There is a great feature where you can play a skins game against someone else over the web using their iPing app.

Got this a few months ago and it's currently sitting in a heap with the Harrington 'rail' putting device and the floppy shafted putter. It gives good feedback, in fairness, and is a bit of craic the first few times but the big problem I found with it is the obvious weight that it adds to your putter by attaching the cradle & iPhone to the shaft. The more you practice with it the more you get used to the extra weight, which has to come off when you actually go out and play. That was my experience of it anyway. Bottom line, again, for me, is that nothing beats 50 putts from 3 foot, 50 putts from 4 foot...

    Cheers

Thanks for the offer but Limerick is well outside my bailiwick! And what sort of self respecting golf bloke would I be if I sold some of my putting junk?! Those items are there to gather dust and form the subject of great debates between myself and herself.

I made my own cradle for this, cost be 8 euro for an iPhone case and I had a rubber shaft clamp that I bought on Gamola Golf which I glued onto the case.

Pretty handy way to get it working cheaper and at least then if you don't use it anymore (which I don't) you can reuse both parts of your home made cradle!

You can get it on McGuirks, I was looking at it on their site when I posted that link for you.

    Search for "iping"

I've used this for a while and it is quite good. I think my stroke is quite a bit smoother as a result.

However, don't practice too long with it on. I've done this before and then my putter has felt too light when I took it off! Better using it to check up on yourself, but do at least half of your practice with it off.

Right, sorry about that, probably Ping being paranoid about fake merchandise and clubs being sold online.
