I need to do a wipe and restore on my phone again - usually I use MyBackupPro but it does not do exactly what I need. It kinda does too much. When it backs up my contacts - it backs up thousands of them. I have a few hundred contracts which are all correct as the contacts in my gamil account. I just want it so that its linked to their facebook, twitter, whatsapp etc etc. Every time I do this it seems to take me ages to get it back to the way I want it. What is the best way to backup my address book the way it is now and restore it exactly that way?

Also, Usually I do not bother backing up my apps I just reinstall them, but some like Whatsapp I want to keep my old messages. Last time I did back up the app but the messages were not there when I restored.

How do you guys do it and what is the best way to do this?
    Thanks.

It's annoying how in the play market, you cannot batch select apps to re-install.

I installed new firmware yesterday and didn't bother using Titanium etc to backup my apps; I had to individually download everyone of my apps from the market again and really, there should be a much easier solution provided by google for this...

With contacts it should be a no work jobbie. As soon as you connect your google account and turn on sync they should all return exactly as they were.

Regarding whatsapp etc, afaik messages are kept in a shared system cache so backing up any messaging app and its data wont keep the messages, you need to perform a separate sms backup(there are a few ways, you can do it file or gmail or other).

Titanium Backup Pro is crucial for this kind of stuff. Best value for money app on the market, period.

    Do people use Google backup?

I know when I last flashed a rom on my phone, well over a year ago, the thinking was not to do a Google backup as it slows the phone down?

Did / does it remember all the apps you've downloaded, and if you wipe your phone, log back onto Google Play it would download all the apps you had already installed?
