hardi sprayer problem

Any hardi experts out there. I'm having difficulty building up the pressure. I can only get at most 1.5 bar pressure with a good rev. Have checked the pump for pressure. Its showing 50 pound pressure. Also the pump seems to be pulsing. I am lost for ideas! The purpose of the air is to stop the pulsing I thought. Its a hardi 400 litre sprayer. Any idea how to get the pressure up to 3 or 4 bar

check to see if there is anything stuck in the valves on the pump, if this ok you have cracked hose.

    agcon thank you

what is causing the pulsing. if a hose was cracked would it not show a leak. have you seen a pump pulsing before or is it common

Blocked filter somewhere could cause the pump to "pulse" try checking the feed from the tank to the pump, I'm not familiar with Hardi so can't be more specific.

What kind of pump have you, Is it electric?

I had the problem last year with a Shurflo pump.
Start with the obvious. Is the pump getting the required flow into it? Check the filters, I don't have a hardi so i don't know where or how many there are.

Pulsing is usually low flow or a worn pump. Most likely a partial blockage. your pump needs a certain amount of water but isn't getting enough to maintain consistent pressure. However yours seems to be capable of a consistent 50psi in controlled conditions.

Logically, if your pump is putting out 50psi, but when connected it's only putting out about 22 psi, the problem must be in the pipework.

Second, on the shurflo pump, I give the screw to to the impellor a turn clock wise and them anticlockwise as the tend bind over the winter. It tends to free it out, but thats only if it won't turn.

The other problem could be that the out-side of the pump is not presurising also. On some machines there is presurised return line so that pump will pump back to the tank if the nozzles are turned off. This may not be sealing properly. The return line gives you a mixing or circulation system whe filling. I don't know about the Hardi sprayer though.

Have a look at the pump manufacturers data sheet online.

Not if it is sucking in air. You might notice a leak if you leave it parked over night.

I haven't used a Hardi for a long time. On a Berthoud if the pump starts to pulse it usually means one or more of the springs are broken but that's a piston pump and the Hardi would be a centrifugal pump.

See if this website is any help

If you know the type of sprayer you have there are Instruction manuals here with problem solving sections

Ok I turned off all valves to the boom and just connected the lance. Still pulsing so I think that means its a problem with the pump. Could it be no air in the ball or the ball can't hold air?

I had a problem with my NK600, very little pressure in the spray. What made it worse was that it was intermittant.

Turned out to be a problem with the valves in the pump getting stuck open.

The air pressure in the ball is to stop the pulsating of the spray, nothing to do with pressure. Save yourself the head scratching, take apart the pump and have a look see:-)

I have the same sprayer and had the exact same problem. Turned out it was the main filter. I took out the filter and what at first though was a gauze material on the filter but was actually dirt (I hope) so tore and scraped it all of and now i have all the pressure I want

My hardi sprayer can build up enough pressure but seems determined to pump it back into tank through the return pipe. If I block the return pipe inside the tank it sprays fine. ? What's going on here?

Last year ours wasn't building up the pressure.were tearing our hair out looking.neighbour unscrewed the the top and pulled the pipe out that goes down in,and sure enough,a hairline crack in it.

The hard plastic washers in the pressure regulator are worn or pitted and are not sealing properly , hardi dealer will have them , cost 15/20 € for the bits to fix it
