I'm after purchasing and getting the unlock code for Huaewai E180 from d.c. unlocker but how do I use the code now to finish the job.

Will they send me instructions by email, have nothing so far.:(

If sim lock status says, unlocked does this mean the modem is unlocked.

    Typically, using DC-Unlocker..

You buy credits 'within' the application.
Log into the server to check how many credits you have on your profile. Make sure you have enough to unlock what you want to unlock.

Plug in your modem and let DC-Unlocker detect it. The dongle details will be listed.

    Click unlock.

It should then give you a status message after the operation.

    ---

Here is an E180 *after* being unlocked. I've removed the EMEI and serial..

This is what DC-Unlocker detects and lists, once inserted.

    ---

    Found modem : E180
    Model : Huawei E180/E180G
    IMEI : Detail removed
    Firmware : 11.104.16.21.00
    Dashboard version : UTPS11.030.01.13.03_MAC11.202.08.00.03
    Serial NR. : Detail removed
    SIM Lock status : unlocked
Wrong codes entered : 0 (unlock attempts left : 10)

    ---

It is very unlikely you purchased an unlock code to enter. That is usually reserved for *some* modems on certain carrier networks. Most unlocks will be done, 'hands off', just one click.

Hi Amalgam and thanks for your detailed reply. I got some help over on the dc unlocker forum.

I think the problem was that I was trying to unlock the dongle that I was using to connect to the internet and while connected to the net.

After disconnecting the dongle from the internet and then running unlocker client I got the details you see below. So it locks like it's unlocked and 4 credits were taken out of my account. I must try another sim in it now.

    DC - Unlocker 2 Client 1.00.0842

    Detecting card :

    selection :
    manufacturer - Huawei modems
    model - Auto detect (recommended)

    Found modem : E180
    Model : Huawei E180/E180G
    IMEI : ************
    Serial NR. : **************
    Firmware : 11.126.04.01.00
    Voice feature : unknown(read failed)(read failed)
    SIM Lock status : unlocked
Wrong codes entered : 0 (unlock attempts left : 10)

If it was a voda dongle I don't think they lock them afaik, the lock is in the software that they load onto the computer and the Meteor E180 I'm using now wasn't locked.

I think you might be right about the Meteor E180 being unlocked anyway.

If the lock is only in their software can you still use the dongle with other sims.
