    Hey all,

I've to get to Leeson street this evening and am planning on catching the train from Maynooth. I was thinking of going as far as either Tara or Pearse and walking / catching a bus. What do you think is the quickest and what bus routes go near?

    Thanks nb

Get off at Barrow St, out of the station onto Barrow St, turn right and go under the bridge and up to Gnd Canal St. Turn right passing the Gasworks pub on your left, then take first turn left. Follow the canal on your left to the 4th set of traffic lights and your there. 15 min walk at most.

Try justroutes.com. If you type in Maynooth as your start and Leeson Street as your destination it says to Get the 66 or 67, get off are Pearse street and walk 810 meters. Put in address and you'll get a better result.

Hope you found your way, Barrow St (Grand Canal Dock) is the stop after Pearse.

Only take the 67 to Leeson Street if you really want to be stuck in Celbridge, Lucan Village and worst of all, Chapelizod.

Didn't know that! Last stop was Pearse so it was probably quicker to walk from there than wait for the Dart.

Re getting the Bus.. never again, did it once but can't remember what number and it was so sloooowww plus I'm a closet anorak so enjoy any excuse to travel by rail :D

    Thanks again for the suggestions,,

    nb

I find it grand once you're not going at peak times. Usually its no more than 50 mins. The train is much faster at any time though but it also depends on where you are going.

Who the hell calls it Barrow St??? I had to Google Map where you were talking about.

Why would anyone take the 67 over the 66? According to Dublin Bus the 66 takes 49 mins, the 67 takes 63 minutes.

Tho peak or off peak, from Maynooth, the train will beat both.

Everyone except CIE - the entrance to the station is on Barrow St. so if you want to give someone directions that's what you call it.

Calling it 'Grand Canal Dock' makes as much sense as renaming Sydney Parade to 'Ballsbridge'.

When telling someone to get off the train at a particular station, giving them the street name instead of the station name isn't very helpful though :) Would you tell someone to get off at Grange Park Crescent or Station road?
