I have UPC connection and a eircom e-mail account that has never been a problem.
Until today...
I can log on to web mail with no problems, but my oulook throws up this error:
Log onto incoming mail server (POP3):
Your e-mail server rejected your login.
Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings.
The server responded: -ERR failed: Could not determine server
Settings are:
Incoming mail server : webmail.eircom.net
Outgoing mail server : smtp.upcmail.ie
User name and password are the same as used on web mail log in.

Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

Try using mail2.eircom.net or mail1.eircom.net for the incoming server. I think Eircom have been having issues with their POP3 servers lately

eircom and POP3, the neverending horror story. ;)

Probably some temporary outage, happens quite frequently as of late. Remember, you're using a free service provided by company under examinership, don't expect significant improvements of their service anytime soon. Consider another email provider.

Not a solution I'm afraid but confirmation of the same problem. My Windows Live Essentials updated today and it seemed to happen after this. Coincidence? Did you do the same thing by any chance?

Yes, there was an update overnight, might do a system restore.

Thanks for all your responses.

I had this issue today too but it has rectified itself tonight.....
