Hi guys has anyone ever bought or rode one of these mountain bikes? I can pick one up today for 450 euro,it's second hand but it comes without any cosmetic damage at all to the frame, it looks like it was never used,id say barely 50-100 miles of road usage at most! The spec is poor I know but it seems like a good bargain and it beats renting in Ballyhoura every few weeks!ive been lookin to get my hands on a good deal, should I wait out or is this as good as it gets for the price!should I try and get the price down,im buying it from a bike shop,I can only presume they didn't spend too much buying it into the shop,
Any advice will be appreciated, in looking for a good solid entry level mountain bike that has components that can be upgraded if necessary!
    Thanks

To be honest, if I was you I'd keep walking. I've seen a few people get ex-rentals of the 4500 & regret it. It's not a terrible bike, but imo it's worth paying a bit extra for something with rock shox tora or recon forks. I'd have my suspicions about the brakes too

There isn't a whole lot around for that price though is there? I took the bike for a quick spin around the road today, very impressed with the brakes, wasn't expecting much to be honest but they were like new!took a few other bikes out also and none of them seemed as strong as the trek, also they were all new bikes and in the thousand euro range

Well it sounds like you have your decision made.

To be fair, I'm a newbie to mtb so don't take too much weight to my comments.

Best of luck with the bike.

A fine bike to start off with at that price. Like the stranger says, the fork probably isn't that good, but if it's working fine now, it should tide you over for a year or so. Then you could pick up an ok fork for ~€150-200 and you'd have a better bike than you could get for €600 new.

It's a good bike and it's a good price cos it's basically new.
However you'd get a 3 year old trek 6300 or rockhopper for the same cash which would have more miles on the clock but will serve you better around ballyhoura.

    Your in Limerick??
Try MBUL forum...someone will be selling something soon that will suit.
I have a rockhopper that I was thinking of selling for around that money (I'm holding onto it as a spare) and it's had practically no use...just to give you an idea.

You should be looking for hydraulic disk brakes and a better fork for your budget than what's on the 4300...albeit a year or two older.

    Marty.
