Achilles Tendon problem

First off, I'm not seeking medical advice per say. Just wondering if anyone has had an achilles tendon problem before and if so, how did you resolve it?

I looked up a few websites inc Sheldon and they say that the most common cause is cleats too far forward on shoe and/or saddle too high, neither of which is true in my case. My cleats are as far back as possible and the saddle height seems just right (I have a slight bend in the knee at the lowest point).

The problem is only affecting my right foot and after about 50km +.

    Any ideas?

I've only ever experienced minor achilles issues, but...

It might just be an overuse injury, in which case fiddling with bike setup won't fix the underlying cause because there is no underlying cause.

"Slight bend in the knee" is a bit non-specific. Maybe get someone to take a picture of you cycling (on a turbo or in motion, just sitting on the bike may not reflect your "ankling" technique when actually riding) and measure the angles from the picture.

The fact that's it's only your right achilles may or may not be important. Sometimes when you have a weakness it just hits your dominant side first - if you keep going your left one might start hurting too!

Obviously a physio is the best person to diagnose or eliminate any underlying problem.

    Yes.
and if so, how did you resolve it?

APOLOGIES,but it would appear that you are seeking medical advice. Please consult a dostor or trained medical professional.
