Fear of Cups, Glasses and Bottles

    I have a really bad fear of drinking from cups, glasses and bottles and it is partly destroying my life. (It has caused me to quit 2 good jobs :( ).

    It all started in 2006! I was working in a restaurant and was working away as you do, pooring wine (as I had done for years) for a couple at a table when the man said to me something along the lines of "why are you shaking? and the couple kind of laughed at me I remember. I had NEVER noticed this before. I cant remember why but this was the year I started to drink and to this day I put it down to must have been out the night before and had a case of the shakes!
    But ever since that bloody couple commented about my hand shaking as I poured them there wine my life has turned upside down :(:(

    As you can imagine I became extreamly self conscious and I am very depressed over it.

    I always carry with a small secret bottle of brandy incase I get into a situation where I know I will be offered a drink. I take that shot of brandy and that seems to steady me up.

    Now, I checked with doc, I dont have a tremor because if i dont leave the house im fine for a year! but when i go to a freinds house or a pub etc I have to be drunk!

    Can anyone help me?

    I feel so bad cause my fear is so stupid. I wish I NEVER served those people that night.

    There is an old Roman and Greek saying which I believe to be true ;

    "To utter a curse verbally was so powerfull, because to say the thing out loud brought it into existance"

    only if the person hearing it believed it

    This is not advice but you could try deliberately shaking your hand and commenting on it when someone is giving you a drink.....
