Does your girlfriend need you to take her to the post office? Do you live together? If you live together have your earnings been assessed as means for your girlfriends claim if she is on jobseekers allowance?

Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I am entitled to JSA. I do not have PRSI contributions as I used to be self employed but that business is now gone. My husband earns approx 32,000 a year and we have 3 dependent children. We have no savings or investments as I am sure that is one of the questions I will be asked. Just my husbands wage and Child benefit.

    Cheers

Presuming €32000 is gross and you do not say when you finished self employment and if you had any takings from the business a rough estimate would be €69 per week. I just did a very broad calculation for FIS (family income supplement) and that would work out at €52.80 this calculation is a very rough estimate.

    Hi thanks for that

I was self employed up to early 2010. I was then a full time carer up to jan 2012 and the appeal for that allowance is still ongoing. Unfortunately the person I was caring for has passed away so therefore I now want to apply for JSA. My husbands take home pay after deductions is 514 euro. We did get FIS of 62euro last year and have re-applied this year but I would prefer to get JSA as this entitles me to do a FAS course as well.
