Hi, I was wondering how long does an 'account' have to be in the jc history exam?
    Thanks in advance,:)

It isn't marked by length, it's marked by the number of relevant points you give. For a 20-mark people in history question, they want you to give 8 SRS (Significant Relevant Statements), going at 2 marks each and the last 4 marks are OMs (Overall Marks - for how good the account is in general e.g. 4 for very good, 3 for good, 2 for fair etc.) It's a good idea to give more than eight relevant points in your account though, as some may not be deemed relevant enough (these may be given 1/2 an SRS (one mark) or none at all, depending on relevance). Think a relevant picture is worth 2 SRS marks too.

This varies depending on the marks going. In an account for 10 marks, I think you have to give 4 SRS and the remaining two are your OMs.

Have a look at the marking schemes for previous years on examinations.ie if you're curious. Just remember, it really is unnecessary to write huge amounts for History. It really is a case of quality, not quantity.

Whats the OM mark for ? like even if you didn't have 4 SRS could you still get full OM ?

It would be unusual to get the full OM without having the full amount of SRSs, but honestly, the vast majority get full marks on those questions. People usually write way too much.
From memory it is 8 SRSs, for 16+4, though this can be adjusted in a review of the marking scheme during correcting.
