which will be the better, just looking for opinions and advice...

the Galaxy Note or wait for the S3 to come out?

i spend a fair bit of time on the S2 that i currently have, and sometimes i find the screen a bit small.

I think you're wrong.......... but each to their own.

I think the 5.3 inch screen of the Note is too big for a phone. 4.7 inch of the HTC is plenty big..........
HTC One x looks like a class phone. Waiting to see how the Galaxy S 3 will compare to it

any word on when the S3 will be out?

The longer without any word, the longer before it comes out. If it were announced today the earliest it would come out would be the end of May.

The Galaxy note has a relatively poorer screen with lower DPI, a pentile matrix instead of the standard RGB matrix and on the whole a visually less stunning screen. There's also the performance difference with the One X sporting a quad-core Tegra 3. That's all ignoring the major difference which is the form and feel of the phone. Not even taking in to account the sheer size of the Galaxy Note the materials used just don't feel as premium as the One X. The Galaxy series of phones use far too much thin, flimsy, glossy plastic for my liking.

Did you have note in your hands? this nonsense about "feel" cheap, flimsy etc is not true in reality. I was saying the same until I bought galaxy note. I had so far: desire, desire hd and sensation. All three phones were giving strange noises - specialy sensation when touching and operating. HTC are not finished properly and I had issues with fitting parts with each of them. The information was HTC boy and samsung hater until I actually switched to galaxy note. The only thing I don't like a LOT is touchwiz... It is terrible and worse that sense which I used to like until I got launcher -"go launcher"

Galaxy note is defo the best phone I had so far (desire, desire hd, sensation, iPhone 4 and gs2)

Once you buy note you will never go back to smaller phone, unless you have small tiny hands.
    Gaming
    Web browsing
    Watching movies
    Reading ebooks
    S-pen
Great Battery life- im very heavy user.

Are massive advantages. Phone is very fast and screen is brilliant. I'm very happy with it. I also have Motorola xoom and it is much slower than note.

Ohhhh and I forgot about great photos and HD video recording and 16gb internal storage.

I'm not saying it's a bad phone. It's a very good phone. What I am saying however is that you can get a HTC One X (Which is a better phone) for little to no difference in price.

I wouldn't say that it is better... For me screen size is a big deal and i will not go below 5inch so any of new phones are not better for me.

The 4.7" of the One X is already too big for a lot of people. The 5.3" Galaxy Note is almost completely unusable one-handed.

    1. We don't talk about other people but us an our needs, and size is perfectly ok for me and I can't imagine to have smaller screen than 5.3
2.. You are correct, it is impossible to use it by one hand only to perform all the tasks. Writing SMS is possible as note has special keyboard for one hand typing. Most of the tasks can be done by person with average size hands.. Whatever that means :-D

I didn't see HTC one in action so I can't say much about it but I can't see HTC one as much faster vs note.... It is already super fast! These phones are nearly the same on paper but are different and it is hard to say which one is better. It depends what you need a drink want. I for example want big screen, great battery life and s-pen for editing and drawing photos and notes.. There is no other phone like that on the market so it is hard to compare. I personally can't imagine how phone can be faster than galaxy note... Will next phone open page 0.2sec faster than note? I will it send SMS quicker? I will i play better games? - yes but maybe in 1-2 years.
Also I can't see HTC one being faster than gs3 so I would drop that idea all together.

You're the exception rather than the rule. Most people I know would find a screen larger than 5" to be unwieldy.

They're both fast phones but the One X is many times more powerful than the note.

    The results speak for themselves.

As for the S3, i've seen the leaked specs (Exynos 4212 1.4GHz, 1GB RAM). Certainly one of the most powerful phones on the market but no more so than the One X.

I use a galaxy note and I would recommend it highly. Definitely the best phone I have used. Navigating the menus, installing apps and opening them is blindingly fast. The browser can be a little laggy on certain types of pages. Moreso the mobile optimized sites rather than the desktop versions.

The S pen is useful. In terms of flimsyness, its solid when all put together but yes when taken of the back cover is a thin piece of plastic.

The screen size is awesome. I love it. I think the bigger, the better though because I want my phone to replace my computer and this is perfect. No problem fitting it in to jeans pockets.

I hate those reviews that criticize the phone for its size, its not an issue at all imo. It is actually a good conversation starter when you whip it out in the pub. I would never get a smaller phone again. They look tiny in comparison.

I would recommend to wait for gs3 and play with each for few minutes in some store. It will be back to size I think as all other settings are similar. Galaxy note is only 5months old... Tegra, quadcore etc.... I'm not impressed with these anymore. Current high level phones are very fast and similar in terms of spec.
Battery on HTC one is similar to gs2 which is bad. My Galaxy note lasts for full day of very heavy usage. Battery is huge due to size of the phone.

I would chose between gs3 or note and leave HTC out. There is only one thing which could be good argument to get htc- hd media link, reserved for HTC devices.
I can't wait to see xbounds to release wireless connection between phone and TV.

BTW, gs3 is on amazon.de ready for preorder with full spec

My final recomendation would be galaxy note due to size - and please see this as advantage not disadvantage. Check youtube for reviews.
If you are car driver, note is brilliant. I have bluetooth head unit and note connected to it so I can play music, listen to online radio, play movies and have fully functional navigation on big screen. It is very handy to click and navigate with bigger buttons. I have brodit holder with horizontal and vertical option.

This news tells that HTC One is just a no runner.
Again, behind the Samsung. If samsung will be able to distribute and throw new gs3 on the market quickly then this is a no brainer.

I went from the iPhone 4 to Galaxy Note... I have had Iphones for the last 4 years and swore I would NEVER change!!
I got a really good upgrade offer so went for it.. when it first arrived I couldn't believe how big it was, I thought Oh Gods I've made such a big mistake... within an hour I was HOOKED!! Now the size seems perfectly normal to me... it fits everywhere & I can do anything one-handed... every other fone looks rediculously small to me now lol
I absolutely love it, it is so fast at doing EVERYTHING!! There is nothing I can think of to complain about... I've dropped it a few times ans nothing has broken, cracked or scratched!!
Go for it... you won't regret it... it's a great fone... I have barely used my kindle, laptop or TV since I've had it!! :)

I have said the exact same thing to everyone who has said it was two big. Size has everything to do with relevance. It's not to big when compared to a tablet. People who think the GNote is two big have probably not seen one for very long or not seen one in person at all. Yes it feels big at first, but as iPink said, after an hour it just feels right and other devices seem tiny.

If anyone has ever had an iPhone and then used an Ipad, once you go back to using your iPhone, you get the sensation that it's smaller. Give you eyes time to adjustment to what you are normally looking at.

Like with everything different, once you adjust to it when coming from smaller devices, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that you will not be able to use another device without thinking it's too small.

The screen size is perfect and the quality of the screen amazing.

Also, I will answer then OP's question.

    Galaxy Note or S3

Now while the S3 will have the Exynos 4 quad processor and it does in fact beat the competition by a impressive margin. What people have to understand is that while you can get amazing benchmarks. It won't really change performance all that much. Android and I mean ICS works perfectly fine without any issues with a dual core device. Now while there are some games that will of course take advantage of the extra power on the SGSIII, most will look the exact same.

when you take into account the GNote has a larger screen and of course a higher resolution. Assuming the SGSIII has the expected 1280 x 720. Games just look better on the larger screen and also the fact you are using touch screen, I can't tell you how much the difference in using the larger screen makes when you have your fingers covering parts of it. It's unbeatable.

At the end of the day OP. I would wait until May 3rd, Find out exactly what the specs of the s3 are and then compare them to the GNote.

I will say this again, Unless you have small hands, then the GNote is not going to be an issue size wise and the benefits are just amazing.

I have a Note and I must agree with iPink and Thor - they are fantastic. Every other phone now appears too small and my iPod Touch honestly feels like a kid's toy and is so cramped and tiny now.

Delighted with it, no matter what the S3 turns out to be.

I also have to agree with iPink and Thor. Imo if you are someone who likes too surf the web watch Media play games on ur phone the Note is perfect its a Tablet and phone all in one. You really do need to be hands on with one before you make a decision on it. After 15-20mins with mine that was it I cannot and will not go back to a smaller screen. P.S I have gorrila sized hands :-)
