Laptop randomly shuts down

    Hi guys,

Recently I've noticed my latop randomly shuts down whenever it tips off something. For example, twice its shut down when I've lifted my laptop on to my knee and rested it on it(I didn't hit it off my knee or anything, ).

This has never happened my laptop before but I did get a new battery back in November so there could be a fault with that..

When this happened I had plenty of power left in my battery so it doesn't appear to be due to the battery dying.

Anyone know why this might be happening?

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1545 and it's about 2 years old, but the battery is relatively new (bought in November).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If it only happens when the charger is not plugged in then it is likely to be the battery connection or the battery has space to move around.

    Cheers for that!

Yeah pretty sure the laptop wasn't connected to a charger when it happened!

The new battery is a fairly bulky thing so it could easily move around.

So basically it's probably a fault in how the battery was designed?

As opposed to an actual fault with the battery itself?
