Installing and Running software from USB

    Hi there-

My work and play involves alot of moving around from PC to PC. As a workaround I've installed and ran a couple of widely use and stable programs(one media and one stat package) from a 64GB USB stick so I don't have to install the software on whatever host machine i'm using.

My question is are there any additional risks doing this other than elevated wear. I'm assuming that the USB is working harder in terms of the OS accessing the program files but there isn't any additional rewrite "wear and tear" that i've read about.

Not every software works like web browsers, which are writing to disk as if there ain't no tomorrow. ;)

Most programs write hardly anything to disk. They just work away when loaded and maybe write changes to some ini file (last opened files, etc.) when being closed.
