I am looking for a 35mm & 110mm negative scanner for scanning family photo negatives to digital, any recommendations on what models are best, ie user friendly, reasonably priced and where to get.

    Cheers.

    Saw this. http://www.dabs.ie/products/veho-slide---negative-scanner-for-35mm---110-instamatic-negatives-7KQK.html

No, they're crap. There are a myriad of different types but they're all equally as bad as one another. Your best (cheap) bet is a canon or epson flatbed scanner of some description that has film scanning capability. Though 110 (I assume you mean 110 when you say 110mm ?) is a bit of a tougher proposition. I don't believe that any of the flatbeds will actually support that out of the box, although just by putting the film emulsion side down on the glass you'll probably get a reasonable result.

How much 110 do you have ? It's a tiny format IIRC so it'll be hard to get a decent scan out of it anyhow. Certainly won't hold up for anything more than 6x4 prints or the equivalent image dimensions at 300 dpi.

There are a bunch of other threads on the forum about scanner pros and cons with quite a bit of useful info if you search.

I've got an Epson V500 which is pretty good. There are no real stock neg carriers for 110 film but you can buy specific 110 carriers online for the V500. My 110 carrier was about $90 from the US.

I've got a V500 as well, and it does a great job. Pete.. do you have a link to where you got that 110 carrier? I've got some 110 that I've scanned, but I did get some distortion because I didn't have a proper carrier.
I manage to do disc film with the 120 carrier.. and surprisingly the 120 carrier does 120 too! (and 220)

I think it was this one

You can sit the 110 down on the glass of the V500 and use some coins to hold it flat and then turn off the thumbnail option and use the marquee tool to crop to what you want to scan.

Here are some scans I've done, shot with some very out of date film!
