breaking the lease (still 5 months for a year)

    Hi this is my forth year living in this apartment, every year i sign a new lease with the landlord, if i want to break the lease ( which still have 5 months to complete a year) can i do that and still keep/or even lose the deposite ?
    i just read the whole contract it didnt say anything about a year lease! i gave my landlord a 2 months notice but he doesnt seems happy about it! and i dont know what to do can someone help me please !:confused: and tell what can i do.
    i kinda remember that one time i asked him if im leaving and he told me that i have to pay for the rest of remaining months :(:confused::confused::confused:
