Few of here are taking part in, and a few more might join us, in the Cuchullain Cycling League every Thursday night for the summer, so thought we may start up a thread for it.
Opened tonight with a 10mile TT. LennyMc and myself represented Drogheda Wheelers, in our first TT, happy with the results. Well organised by Karl and the crew.
Roll on the road race next Thursday!

Yeah that is the course, deceptively tough. Whill no out & out hills on the course is plenty of drags that are an absolute killer!

@ lennymc, can you explain the different groups, are they based on your times in TT??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,386 ✭✭✭lennymc

I don't know how they are calculated, but they will be the handicap groups. Group 1 away first, group 2 second etc. at least thats what I think will happen....

Groups are allocated according to TT times, Past Record, Experience, Type of Licence Held (Racing or Non-Racing) and Guess Work

If anybody else is interested in partaking the league is open to anybody holding an IVCA or Cycling Ireland (Club Competition) Licence. You can register and find out more info here: http://www.cuchulainncc.com/?page_id=191

first race done. throoughly enjoyable. I think 'hole opener' is the technical term. Got dropped after about 10 k, got onto the back of the next group for a bit, then got dropped, did a bit on my own, then got in with a couple of cuchulainn lads and we worked together to get back to the line. Good introduction to racing. Im hooked. Roll on next week. I might have recovered by then :)

You'll be raring to go for the DW weekend Lenny!
Our group went off at a strong pace, with up and overs going for the entire 18k to Greenore, which was an eye-opener for me! The super scratch group caught us then, and it was balls out then for the return leg.....hung on and finished in the group...mind you we didnt get near to closing the gap on group 2, who secured the winning places, fair play to them. Good fun, great exercise, roll on Sunday.

Was up that part of the country last night and fair play to the lads for letting me have a run.Really enjoyed it, went with group 4, probably should have went with group 5.Was comfortable with the pace and plenty of lads willing to do a bit at the front.Turned around about a mile out and saw the big boys looming, decided to have a dig at the end just for the craic ( dont worry lads, even if i placed im not taking points off anyone!) and just held off to the line.Couple of pints of porter in town afterwards and back to dublin this morning. All in all a nice evening.Maybe nenagh sunday.
