Does anyone have a link to the ultimate guide for history referencing. DCU tutors seem to refer you to the Marian Lyons guidelines which are very outdated. They don't even show you how to footnote a website or online source. Every history book I look at seems to do things differently. It's driving me crazy. Any help would be much appreciated.

Never heard of the Marian Lyons guidelines. DCU generally recommends Harvard style. Which school are you in?

The library's guide to Harvard-style referencing is here: http://www4.dcu.ie/library/classes_and_tutorials/citing.shtml

    Thanks Extopia,
I use the Harvard referencing for sociology but history tutors insist on the Marian Lyons guide which is very outdated. Not to worry, I made a decent effort and submitted my work anyway.
    Cheers
