Can't wait to see the back of this Kip

Was strolling around maynooth today and went into the shopping centre. Not an effing soul around the place. Living in maynooth is like living on a desert island, absolutely nothing to do here. I was speaking to a friend the other day, who is in her final year and she said she can't wait to see the back of this place. I'm very envious of her. It must be like leaving prison or something similar.

All is not lost though, only three more weeks of lectures, then exams, and then synaura to this sh1thole for the summer, and maybe, just maybe, I might meet some interesting people on my travels, ones which don't resemble the cast of deliverance. Anyone else feel the same?

    No.

Honestly, the extent of your complaining - and its inconsistency with the experiences of others should indicate the problem is likely your own.

If you hate this place so much then just go somewhere else

Trust me, you won't be missed

Yeah unclejunior, if you hate Maynooth as much as you say, why don't you transfer to a different college? It's not like they do courses here that are done nowhere else.

    I'll miss your threads if you go though ;____;

Eh Dublin is only 40mins away on the train and an hour on the bus.

    Ah, unclejunior's biannual everything's-rubbish-in-Maynooth rant.

The last one was priceless. It mentioned a similar list of grievances to this one, but included- wait for it- it takes too long for the lights to change.

Why? Are you in a hurry to get to the deserted shopping centre?

Perhaps everyone knows you're coming and think 'fu*k this, I'm going home. I'd rather pick up soap in a prison shower than speak to this boring <snip>'.

why on earth would you want a busy shopping centre?
empty shopping centre means less time getting around and queuing at the tills.
    bizarre.

In fairness to the lad, the place can be pretty lifeless and boring at the weekends. If you've not got a group of friends who hang around or have a particular hobby/sport to do at the weeknd it can be really dull. I really don't understand why everyone is always in such a rush to get home to their mammies on a Friday.

Though Dublin is only a short trip away...

Maynooth is awfully boring on the weekends alright. I'm not mad about the setting of the college either, and think I'd be that wee bit happier living in a city.

What I can say about my two years so far in Maynooth though, is that I've met some of the nicest, friendliest and soundest people ever. Pretty lucky in that respect.

It takes 10 minutes to drive to Liffey Valley.

If you really hate the place so much then why not transfer to another college, see how that works out for ya?

    Wild and CRAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZYYYY suggestion here...

    Study?

It passes the time and might even bag you some marks here and there. Or so I've been told.

Only times I've ever been bored have been in work. Learn how to occupy yourself.

might be easier to meet people in maynooth if you pulled your head out of your arse

Maynooth is empty during weekends and holidays, but like someone suggested, use that time to study.

I'm very sad to be leaving this place - it doesn't feel like coming out of a prison, it feels like being sent to one - a prison known as "real world outside of academia". Although I'm only going to be in the "real world" over the summer, then I'm back to academia again though not in Maynooth.

Hmm 3 degrees in one place, you sure?
Mightn't look good when it comes to getting a job/international recognition.
