I have done the Hdip in Ireland in 2003 and taught til 2009 at secondary level. I then decided to go back to uni and I did a PCGE primary in Liverpool in 2010-2011. Since I came home in July 2011 I have been subbing in primary schools and I have just sat the irish SCG exams. I was wondering as I have a secondary HDIP does that mean I do not need to do the primary dip?Really trying to find out more about this and would appreciate any info:-) I have been registered with the teaching council since they were formed as a secondary teacher and I am registered now as a primary teacher too.

Please do not post the same query in two different forums. I have deleted your other thread. Thanks.

But if you did the primary dip in Liverpool and are registered with the Teaching Council as a primary teacher why would you need to do it a second time?

I presume she means the year that primary teachers have to do when they finish their primary school teaching degree or post grad. You know, where they are inspected. It's commonly known as the dip.

I'd imagine you'd still have to do your probationary year(aka the "dip") at primary level.

I'd be pretty certain that you would have to do your DIP year, the Hdip n the probationary year in primary school are different .
