Interview Coaching. Worth it or not?

Anyone ever used one of these? Are they a waste of money or worth a punt? Interview questions for the jobs I am going for are specific to the profession and role, how will one of these be able to help? The reason I am asking is that I have had a number of unsuccesful interviews now , and would consider it if I thought there was any advantage to be gained from it but don't want to be handing over money when I am unemployed if I don't need to. It's bad enough dealing with the parasite agencies but at least I don't have to give them any money.

Yea, I have went to one and found them helpful. In my case I rang them up, send them my cv and job spec, and then booked for an appointment a couple of days later so they could research the job and firm. I suppose it depends on who you get for the interview coaching, and on the reasons you feel why your interviews are unsuccessful.

Maybe give some more info on the type of jobs you are applying for.

I have found them really beneficial and insightful. For me I was recorded before and after the coaching, remarkable difference. They give you the dvd to take away with you.

The key point is to script the answers to all the potential questions. Learn them off so that you are good to go on the day.

    Definitely worthwhile.

Thanks for the advice (I'm an accountant b.t.w). I rang one of them up today, and in fairness, the guy spoke for nearly an hour with me on my CV and general advice, no commitment given by me. He was a little evasive on price if I wanted to go further. How much were either of you guys charged for their services. I'm strongly thinking of going further, and if it helps me acheive my goal ( a job) it will have been money well spent, but I'd just like to have some idea as well at the same time.

For mine it was 130, went on for around 3-3.5 hours thought it was worth as my interview skills aren't great. A hour on the phone without any appointment made that was fairly good of him.

I think I paid 300 at the time 3 years ago. The girl on Irish jobs is around 100. In the current climate these fees are negotiable. Don't be afraid to ask for lower.

It's an investment, gives you an extra inch. It will stand to you over your career. Alternatively buy an interview skills book.

    Best of luck
