MS Word Repetition Function

Who Knows?

Hi all,

I am about to submit my thesis for review but I'm not 100% sure whether small sections of the thesis may repeat themselves, e.g. one sentence here and there. My question is: does MS Word (2007 or 2010) provide the functionality to run through the document and highlight where repetition occurs?

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

I think Word will only check for repeated words not sentences.

cut/paste all text into notepad++


not too sure if you'd have to remove line feeds , carriage returns from the pasted text - ie. you want to convert all whitespace into a single space and remove punctuation.


Edit > Blank operations > EOL to space
Edit > Blank operations > Remove leading and trailing space

then change all full stops to carriage returns - choose extended , \n
or semicolons or whatever you use your self



Plugins -> Plugin Manager -> Show Plugin Manager -> Available tab -> TextFX -> Install.

then in TextFX Tools you can sort , count the lines, then sort unique to see if different
