    Hi,

trying to find out what the standard shorthand taught in ireland is.

Basic search has come up with Pitman system or Teeline.

Does anyone know which is the prefered one?

I use Teeline. I learned it in college 18 years ago, but use it every day.
Most hacks I know with shorthand would either have that, or Gregg's.

I can comfortably cover court cases with Teeline, but it's whatever one works best for you.

I use Teeline myself. Most of the other journos I know would use this or at least have studied it at some point.

They taught Pitman shorthand in the DCU Journo course back in 2005 but Teeline looks like a much better option these days.

    +1 for Teeline
